Are We There Yet?

Today, we are reminded in the Gospel of the persistent woman.

Now, normally people tend to frown upon "that guy," the one that just won't take 'no' for an answer. But, in this case (as He usually does), Jesus turns things around. Rather than waiting around in passivitiy, we should take action and be persistent in our prayer to God. And, at the right time, He will deliver.

This is particularly beautiful in light of one's vocation; for, at times, we have NO IDEA what we are doing. The thought of our future can be quite overwhelming and, well, downright terrifiying to some. The unpredictability, the poverty, the obedience...it may all seem so difficult. But there is great freedom in this obedience, freedom for the Lord to completely surprise us. But, I think, the key is that persistence. We must keep asking the Lord to place those desires on our hearts to do what He desires of us. It is in praying for this that we take an active role in our vocation and in our lives.

Also, we must not be afraid to go out and change the world--one small act of love at a time. This is how we form our hearts in virtue. And how beautiful it is to serve the Lord! Today, may we learn to live with hopeful persistence and an active trust in our Lord.

Let us try to see this in light of the following clip:

Amen!

St. Josaphat, pray for us.
