The 4 key elements to making a viral video are:
1)Congruency
2)Emotive Strength
3)Network Involvement
4)"Paired meme synergy"
Some of these words might seem weird but they are pretty simple terms. Congruency means people need to have pre-existing knowledge of what the person is advertising or showing. Emotive Strength means that people need to get connected on an emotional level. Network Involvement means that the video needs to be relevant to a large network of people (students, parents, religious, athletes, etc.). Paired meme synergy is when you take certain elements and incorporate them into the video. Some of these elements are "cutsie wootsie", "impromptu", "baby love", and "performance". There are more and you can check out this whole topic of how to make viral videos at: http://www.jeffbullas.com/2011/11/24/4-key-elements-for-a-viral-video/
Here's why we're talking about this topic today. Over the last week, there has been a video that is blowing up called, "Why I Hate Religion, but I Love Jesus". It's an interesting video with great video quality, rhyming, and hand movements, and overall it's a cool video. When I finally looked past the "coolness" of it, I listened to the message. This is when I thought to myself...wait a second, what did he say? As a young Catholic man I came up with some responses to what was being said in the video. However, some friends of mine put a video together on YouTube and made a REAL response. It's got emotional connection, congruency, hits networks of people, and uses some of the pairs of meme synergy. It has the ingredients for a VIRAL HIT!!! Also, with 7,000+ views in only two days I think that recipe is working! Check out DB Disciple in this video called, "Why I Love Religion, and Love Jesus || Spoken Word (Response Video)":
