What a bunch of slackers!

So, my faithful blog reviewer, you may be wondering:
Why are these Salesian dudes in formation slacking off on these blogs?

And our response is twofold:
     1. We're flattered that you enjoy reading our blogs, and we hope that it continues to inspire you to live Christ's Gospel mission out in a radical way.
     2. We apologize because, as of today, this house of formation is incredibly abnormal. Why is that? I will let you in on some cool formation information that may interest you...
                a. First year candidates in formation finished all of their classes and ministries as of this week and are free to leave after Marian day, which was celebrated as a Salesian family yesterday.
                b. Second year candidates participated in the Salesian YAR (Young Adult Retreat), and they are free to leave as of today (today being the last day of the retreat).
                c. Pre-novices participated in Marian day before hopping in a van and leaving immediately to experience Salesian ministry in Salesian communities in Canada for the week. When they return, they will be able to leave before their departure to Tampa for most of the summer.
                d. Post-novices participated in Marian day, two also participated in YAR. Some of them start summer school at the university on Tuesday while others (the two from YAR) are attending a mission trip to Haiti with other Salesians from across the USA.
*on a side note, what is beautiful about the Salesian family is that when someone says the word 'Salesian,' for instance, "a mission trip to Haiti with other Salesians from across the USA," this does not mean that these persons are professed brothers or priests. To say 'Salesians' is to call someone a man or woman devoted to Don Bosco and his mission to love and work for the poor and the youth of our day. So, in actuality, only a handful of these Haiti participants are Salesian brothers and priests.

To get back on track, here's another question that might be popping into your mind:
Well, you say that you get to 'leave'. What do you mean?

And the answer is: HOME!
Candidates and pre-novices, for those times when they are able to 'leave', they are leaving to go home. What a beautiful blessing it is to reunite with your loved ones who you've been praying for and speaking to from a distance for quite some time! How much more you can appreciate your family after being apart from them!

So, basically, with the exception of some of the guys who may continue to post when they have time, this blog might not be published for some time...
BUT be sure to like us on Facebook so we can tell you when another blog entry is up, and you can be up to date on how Christ is moving in our lives!
